Fit for Good

My chosen charity to support is Fit For Good. This is a charity that is enhancing lives by providing health and fitness opportunities for Australians in need.

Fit for Good is the fitness industry’s charitable foundation designed to provide health and fitness opportunities for Australians in need.

Fit for Good is a CONNECTOR. We seek out established needs within the helping world and strive to fill those needs through our volunteers, donated products and services, scholarships and financial contributions. These needs can include things like:

  • Teaching fitness or well-being classes at homeless or rehabilitation centres
  • Mentoring people in need to go on a health and well-being journey
  • Delivering free seminars on all aspects of health and fitness
  • Providing scholarships for people who are facing adversity or have overcome hardships (to attain Cert III and Cert IV in Fitness)
  • Providing free fitness centre memberships to those who cannot afford them
  • Providing free exercise footwear and clothing to people in need
  • Sourcing second-hand fitness equipment to equip small fitness facilities in helping centres….and much more!

Fit for Good volunteers are fitness industry professionals interested in helping Australians in need. All volunteers delivering exercise will hold professional indemnity insurance and be appropriately qualified to teach group exercise or conduct personal training.

So, if you are a fitness professional looking to contribute, or a helping organisation needing support to deliver health and fitness initiatives to your clients – please get in touch!

Fit for Good is a Connector

Fit for Good serves as a CONNECTOR. We seek out existing needs within the helping world and fill those needs through our volunteers, donated products and services, scholarships and, in time, financial contributions.

Our Mission

Enhancing lives by providing health and fitness opportunities for Australians in need.

Our Values

  • Being accepting of everyone
  • Treating everyone with dignity
  • Having open hearts and open minds
  • Showing compassion
  • Working with honesty and integrity at all times

Mission Australia – Our Launch Partner

Fit for Good is delighted to have Mission Australia as our Launch Partner. Initially, our focus will be to work closely with Mission Australia, placing Fit for Good initiatives in their facilities. This process will allow organic development of our services which will then be offered to the wider helping community.

What do we do?

Fit for Good helps people in need in two ways:

‘In kind’ services

  • Pro bono work – our volunteers are fitness professionals (personal trainers, group exercise leaders and fitness centre owners and managers) who are willing to give their time to teach classes, run boot camps, mentor others to complete a fitness goal (such as running or walking in a fun run), give healthy lifestyle talks, consult on exercise programs for people in need, or provide any other service or need where their skills and knowledge can be utilised.
  • Provision of clothing and footwear – we have a limited number of vouchers for free fitness clothing and footwear so that people in need who want to go on a health and fitness journey can be appropriately equipped.
  • Free gym memberships – we have a bank of complimentary memberships at fitness centres throughout Australia that can be allocated to people who would be interested, willing and able to attend a fitness centre. Where possible, we seek representatives at the centres to serve as mentors.
  • Donated second-hand fitness equipment – we can source second-hand fitness equipment for helping centres who would like to develop an exercise space within their facility. We can also try to find a fitness professional in the area to consult on what equipment would be best to put in and how the space should be set up.
  • Scholarships – we hold a bank of scholarships to complete Certificate III (group exercise instructor and gym floor instructor) and Certificate IV (personal trainer) in Fitness – the qualification required to work in the fitness industry.

Financial Initiatives

  • Grants – in time, we hope to provide grants for the provision of health and fitness products and services for helping organisations. If a helping centre requires funding to hire a fitness professional (if one could not be found to work pro bono), equip a gym (if donated equipment cannot be found), buy some exercise mats, or anything else health and fitness related, a grant request may be submitted. Our Grant Application Process is not yet open.
