This is one of my favourite videos! I just love it! It shows the power of celebrity endorsement!

In a 2010 survey, consumers stated that they don’t believe celebrities use the products. I think consumers realise that many celebrities are mercenaries and auction themselves out to the highest bidder. Certainly, the celebrity name will boost recall of the product but if they drive sales is questionable.

Anyway, we can’t all have celebrities represent our product but we can have a person of influence in our community represent our product. This will help boost sales and recall of your product.

What is a person of influence?

Best explained by giving examples: school teachers, doctors, church representatives, local politicians and key business people. They are people who other people trust in your community. The community listen to these people and are guided by their advice.

So get these influencers using your product. If they are happy, they will tell their friends – face to face and on-line! Not to mention when other people see the influencer using your product, this marketing is super powerful!

Make a list of the names of influencers in your community. Follow them on Twitter or Facebook. Get to know them – not stalk them! And when the timing is right share with them your product.

If you can form a relationship with these people in your community your business will grow and no need to spend money on celebrities!
